Limited In-Person Access Available for the Green Pointe Landfill Hearing

IN-PERSON ACCESS TO GREEN POINTE LANDFILL VIRTUAL PUBLIC HEARING TO BE AVAILABLE AT POWDERSVILLE BRANCH LIBRARY

Anderson County, in partnership with the Anderson County Library System, will be providing limited in-person access to the scheduled February 18th SCDHEC Public Hearing regarding the proposed expansion of the Greenpointe Class 2 Landfill in Anderson County. Limited access will be available in the meeting room at the Powdersville Branch Library, located at 4 Civic Court off of Highway 81 North.

SCDHEC will begin the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. SCDHEC personnel will not be attending in-person at the library—they will be attending remotely from Columbia and will not be at the Powdersville Library.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements, only a limited number of persons can participate in the virtual meeting at Powdersville Library.  Those with at-home internet access are strongly encouraged to participate from their home or other appropriate location.  Those wishing to participate may also join the meeting via telephone.

All meeting participants, regardless of whether attending at Powdersville Library or from another location, are strongly encouraged to complete SCDHEC’s meeting registration form before February 18th.  The form can be accessed via https://scdhec.gov/environment/environmental-sites-projects-permits-interest/greenpointe-class-2-landfill.  The link will also provide more information about the project as well as instructions on how to join the meeting by internet or phone from your preferred location.

Brande Kupfer Receives Prestigious Certified Animal Welfare Administrator Credential

Brande Kupfer, Intake Supervisor at Anderson County PAWS recently earned her Certified Animal Welfare Administrator certification through The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement, an independent agency whose mission is to help develop strong leaders and promote standards of practice in the animal welfare profession.  Kupfer is now one of several hundred individuals to hold this prestigious designation.

The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement administers the Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) program which distinguishes top-level executives and managers working in both nonprofit and municipal animal welfare agencies. In addition to meeting strict eligibility requirements for leadership and management in the animal welfare field, Kupfer needed to pass a rigorous exam to earn her CAWA designation.

The CAWA exam covers best practices in animal welfare with questions reviewing leadership, human resources, finance, fundraising, marketing, administration, and animal care.  Obtaining her CAWA status validates Kupfer’s work in the animal welfare field and illustrates her competency to contribute to broader animal welfare conversations as they pertain to her community and across the country.

New Location for Sewer Permit Application

Anderson County Wastewater will begin receiving payment for sewer permit fees at the Development Standards Office, located in the Anderson County Annex beginning January 11, 2021.

In an effort to serve the residents of Anderson County, building and sewer permits can now be paid in the same location at 401 East River Street, Anderson SC 29624.

It is recommended that you call Anderson County Wastewater for sewer availability. To inquire about sewer service, please call the Wastewater Department at (864)260-4023. You may also email mmsmith@andersoncountysc.org or amfree@andersoncountysc.org, however, please include the below information in your email request.

Please provide the following information when requesting sewer service:

  • 911 Address
  • Subdivision and Lot #
  • TMS #

Anderson County Wastewater should be contacted for scheduling of sewer inspections and all sewer related questions at (864)260-4023.

End of Year Tax Schedule

The Anderson County Tax Offices (Auditor, Assessor and Treasurer) would like to advise you of the end of the year operating hours for tax related matters. Our offices at the Annex (401 E. River Street, Anderson) and in Powdersville (4 Civic Court) will be open for the end of the month/end of the year tax collections on Tuesday, December 29 – Thursday, December 31, 2020 during the normal operating hours.  The Annex is open from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  The Powdersville office is open from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm and is closed from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. for lunch.

If you choose to visit our offices during these dates, please note admittance to our facilities will be limited for social distancing purposes and masks are required in all common areas.  We appreciate your patience for the extended wait times that may be experienced.

We anticipate a large number of tax payments and billing inquiries during this seasonal rush.  Mailing your payment is always a good option to avoid the long lines.  You are also encouraged to pay online at www.andersoncountysc.org using your debit and credit card.  There will be no processing fee charged by us for using this service.  Due to security restrictions by the various credit card companies, payments are not processed on the telephone.

EuWe Eugen Wexler US Plastics, Inc. expanding operations in Anderson County

$8.6 million investment will create 16 new jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – EuWe Eugen Wexler US Plastics, Inc., a subsidiary of the Germany-based EuWe Group, today announced plans to expand operations in Anderson County. The $8.6 million investment will create 16 new jobs.

Established in 1968, the EuWe Group is a producer of high-quality plastic products worldwide for the automobile industry. Headquartered in Lauf, Germany, outside Nuremberg, the company also has facilities in Czechia and Mexico.

Located at 171 Alliance Parkway in Williamston, EuWe Eugen Wexler US Plastics, Inc.’s expansion will include the acquisition of 13 acres where the company will expand its current production facility.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Anderson County a $75,000 Set-Aside grant for costs related to the project.
