This may come as no surprise to those of us who live here, but Anderson County was recently named one of the best towns in the United States to retire by Travel and Leisure. It’s not hard to believe! With the sprawling mountains at the foothills of the Appalachian mountain chain and the sparkling waters of Lake Hartwell, Anderson has many things to offer to those who appreciate the greatness of nature. The Blue Ridge Mountains sit nestled on the shoulder of the county while the waters of Lake Hartwell craft a magnificent shoreline along the border of stateline. Those of us here would tell you that Anderson County is not just the best place to retire but also a fantastic place to live.
Downtown Anderson
Things in downtown Anderson are steadily growing with opportunities for dining, nightlife, and family nights. Escape rooms, breweries, dog parks, walking areas, and eateries populate the downtown city stretch of Main Street. Anderson encapsulates the vibrant, bustling attraction while still holding that hometown feel that makes this such a special place.
The City of Anderson continues to grow with many things as old buildings become fresh with facelifts and remodeling. The old, empty structures of yesteryear now hold the dream of today and the promise of tomorrow with brand new business and homegrown appeal that brings our community and visitors together.
Surrounding the City of Anderson are the wonderful municipalities and many things that Anderson County has to offer. Each municipality offers its own feel on what it’s like to be a part of Anderson County. From the family-like feel of Lincoln Taproom in West Pelzer to the beautiful streets on the square Anderson County has something for everyone. No matter what corner of the county you may find yourself you can be sure that you’ll meet the nicest people and be greeted with a handshake and a smile. The South Carolina saying was “Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places” and nothing could be more true!
